Blackjack is indeed not just your typical online casino game. You will be surprised how fascinating a game of Blackjack can become. With the inclusion of different strategies, you get closer into experiencing a better and a newer Blackjack gameplay every time. However, it is important that you have already developed the basic Blackjack strategy before you advance to the next level. Take one step at a time, because practice makes progress, if not perfect.

Below is an example of a strategy used by seasoned Blackjack players. You can try to apply this counting system method at any online casino:

Hi-Lo Counting System

A card counting strategy is used when you want to be sure to beat some Blackjack games. That is, if the conditions are applied right. The Hi-Low (High-Low) Counting strategy works by using a plus/minus system. This counting method is used when players want to keep track of the high cards left in the deck. The Hi-Lo counting system is done by counting every card in the deck, in hopes that the result would be a zero. This is because each card in the deck has either a value of -1, +1, or 0. The total value of a 52-card deck is zero.

Here is how it works:

  • You keep track of high cards left in the deck.
  • The Hi-Lo strategy is a balanced system.
  • When every card is counted down, the balance would be zero.
  • If there are smaller cards in the deck, their value is +1 for cards two to six.
  • The middle cards, or neutral cards, which are seven to nine have a zero value or 0+.
  • The face cards, or big cards, which are King, Queen, Jack, Ace, and ten, have a -1 value.
Two, three, four, five, and six  Count +1
Seven, eight, and nine  Count 0
Ten, King, Queen, Jack and Ace   Count -1

How to apply the Hi-Lo Counting strategy:

The counting starts when there is a new shuffle and when a new shoe of cards is made in Blackjack. At this point, the table count is zero. As each of the cards are shown, you add positive one, subtract positive one, or add zero. If you start at zero, and your count is zero (the start of a new shoe/deck of cards), and a king is dealt, the table count becomes negative one.

If you have a card of three, the next count becomes zero (negative one plus positive one equals zero). If your count is higher, it is more likely that the deck pile has higher cards left. But if your cards are sixteen, and the dealer has nine, you can assume that a low card is likely to come out next. The more cards are dealt and counted, then the more accurate the Blackjack Hi-Lo Count method becomes. This counting system may be a little confusing to understand at first, which is why it is important to try to apply the strategy when you play Blackjack for free at an online casino of your choice.
